Ever gone on a 200 mile road trip in the car and not bothered to check the fuel gauge or kick the tyres to see if the car is up to the job. No me neither.
So why did I not do this morning for me and Cal. The tyres were fine but the fuel tank that is the stomach of a young man needs constant monitoring and care and attention. You will see further down we left the Airbnb in Albertville which was lovely and headed to a breakfast cafe and consumed nothing more than a couple of coffees and a large muffin each. We really needed a big bowl of porridge and three of these. We also had very little other than 2 energy bars each on us. Today we had our first real Col. Col de la Madeleine!! Surely there would be somewhere to buy food and drink on the way up !?!?!..... stay tuned for more on this.
Lets just say.... that word "surely there would" or anything that resembles an assumption is dangerous and never to be mentioned ever again.......
Top tip... Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And plenty of it.
